“I tell you”, he replied, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:40
As I sit here typing this post, my heart is so full! God is doing so many amazing things in my life right now I can hardly take it in. His goodness seems to know no measure. Each day reveals one surprise after another. Some are relatively small, seemingly insignificant, and others are totally mind-boggling.
And even though I am reveling in it all, I feel completely unworthy. However, I keep reminding myself, just as we love to bless our children, He loves to bless His. As a parent, nothing gives me more pleasure than to do something special for one of my children. When I know I have successfully managed to pull off a really cool surprise, my heart overflows with excitement.
In the beginning, as my ideas and plans are taking shape, I can hardly wait for the day when I get to expose my big surprise. Carefully planning each and every detail, I anticipate what the expression on their face will look like and how they will respond.
I do everything in my power to ensure all is perfect. After all, they are my pride and joy….my heart. And when it is over, I have to admit I even enjoy hearing them recap the details to their friends about how great it was!
I believe God feels the same way about us, too. Just as we find pleasure in blessing our own children, He loves to bless His. He has an amazing plan for each and every one of our lives that He longs to fulfill. I have to wonder if He looks down with great anticipation knowing what tomorrow or next week will hold for one of His own.
As He pours out His blessings and watches us enjoy His goodness, I am certain He smiles. And when we give Him praise and brag to our friends about how good He is or what amazing thing He has done in our life, surely His heart swells with pride.
Yet, I also wonder if He feels a certain amount of disappointment when we receive His blessings and fail to share it with others or even recognize it at all. Everyone loves adoration and praise, especially God. He created us to worship and praise Him.
Today, I challenge you to look for every blessing, no matter how small or big…and thank Him. Whether it is a front row parking space at the mall, an unexpected discount on a purchase or a long awaited answer to an important prayer…praise Him! And share it with someone else. We all love a good pat on the back, maybe God does too!
Have a blessed day.
